This course rotates through all categories of questions on the Math ACT with the goal of making sure your student has a good level of mastery to tackle the Math ACT test with confidence. Note that class has a minimum enrollment. Once the class is up and running I usually have no trouble reaching minimum enrollment each week. In the case that we start the week on Sunday or Monday with the class below minimum enrollment, the class will be paused until the following week. You will not be charged (or you’ll be refunded if you were charged) for that week. When I cannot hold class due to below minimum, enrollment, I will have that time slot available for a private session if any family would like to book a private tutoring session at that time. The following categories and topics are rotated through: number & quantities: ratios" 2:3:5 had to find 1 ingredient "finding the greatest common factor (alg 1) integers" finding the greatest common factor of 42, 126, 210 adding rational functions adding 5/k + ratio of binomials multiplying matrices multiplying matrices percents simplifying unreal radicals dividing by complex numbers irrational numbers even and odd numbers prime numbers & prime factorization algebra: averages figuring out averages expanded notation factoring - squaring a binomial factoring a difference of squares factoring a difference and sums of cubes word problems with rates factoring a difference of cubes discriminant comparing 2 linear real world functions solve with a temporary variable complex word problems Functions evaluating a function graphing a parabola exponential functions trig function composite functions geometry solving for a variable of a parallelogram area word problems pythagorean triples probability simple probability choosing out of a population dependent probability choosing twice without replacement combinations & permutations geometry constructing segments angle bisector volume of a rectangular solid Buckle in! I've taught SAT and ACT prep for over 12 years now with strong record of improving SAT scores by as much as 300 points. It isn't just the knowledge and expertise as a math teacher that helps me be successful. It's also knowing and understanding the hearts of the learner who is preparing for this test and preparing for life after college. I know how to get the learner to appreciate the beauty in how to solve the SAT math problems quickly and elegantly.
I've been certified in the public schools for teaching math in middle and high schools. I received additional certified training for gifted and talented learners. I taught math for sixteen years and I've been a personal SAT tutor for seven years. My students have typically raised their scores between 100 and 300 points. As a chemical engineer and project management professional in the world of business consulting and information technology consulting, I've completed over five levels of college calculus and applied mathematics and used these math and computing skills throughout my career.
The students I have taught had varying learning abilities that ranged from one with pronounced learning disabilities to gifted and talented. When it came to PSAT's and SAT's, each of them with impressive improvements in their scores.
It can be done! Just watch how your learner improves!
