This is a four-session, 1.5 hour class for students preparing to take the ACT. The ACT English section covers grammar and rhetoric. The beauty of this exam is that it ONLY tests the "non-rule breakers."

Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
This is a one-on-one ACT English Prep class. We will cover both strategies and content for success on the exam. The ACT English section covers grammar and rhetoric. The beauty about this exam is that it covers only the non rule breakers. What does this mean for students? The rules for usage are transparent and solid. With instruction and practice, students can improve both their understanding and confidence with the grammar and rhetoric of not just the test, but English as well.

The first session will be a combination of lecture and practice. Students will be introduced to all the content and strategies of the test. They will practice the skill and concepts throughout the session. Students will need to download the notebook so they can participate, mark up, and add notes as we move through the content. Students will have one practice test to complete for the next session.

The second session will be test corrections of the assigned homework. At that time, we will address and practice concepts that were issues on the homework. After we complete the homework corrections, students will then start another practice test. This time, they will complete one passage at a time, with a timer, doing corrections and review at the end of each passage. They will complete another practice test as homework - doing it one passage at a time with the timer.

The third session will start with test corrections of the assigned homework. At that time, we will address and practice concepts that were issues on the homework. After we complete the homework corrections, students will then start another practice test. This time, they will complete two passages at a time, with a timer, doing corrections and review at the end of each group. They will complete another practice test as homework - doing it two passages at a time with the timer.

The last session will start with test corrections of the assigned homework. At that time, we will address and practice concepts that were issues on the homework. After we complete the homework corrections, students will then start another practice test. This time, they will complete an entire test, with a timer followed by test corrections.
