Kickin' It! | Advanced Math PSAT / SAT / Prep | The Toughest Problems for Advanced Students

Weekly quick-hit SAT / PSAT PREP review of challenging test questions! Work up to 10 challenging -level difficulty problems each session. Build speed/accuracy! Students are expected to be familiar with concepts and be focusing on speed. Because these are advanced problems, they also help build skills for ACT. Note: Learner can take multiple sections to increase their exposure-- each section uses different problem sets and problem sets do not repeat for months.

Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
Advanced Level
High-energy brief weekly class to practice PSAT/SAT questions. We emphasize more difficult questions which require a learner to pull from multiple concepts and use their aptitude in strategizing a solution. Students will use polynomial math along with applied and advanced linear algebra and geometry. This class is for more experienced students who have advanced into high school math or students who mastered the easy and medium level Kick It! SAT Prep, and are ready to plunge into the "black diamonds" of SAT questions.

Note: Learner can take multiple sections to increase their exposure-- each section uses different problem sets and problem sets do not repeat for months.

The reason for this is that this class has the purpose of helping students who are already at a strong mastery level to accelerate their way to top SAT scores. Minimum enrollment is 3 students.

Has your learner been trying to make themselves look at those "daily questions" to practice the SAT, but either didn't have someone holding them accountable or didn't have a live teacher helping them understand the question? This fifteen-minute session is offered in many separate weekly sections so that your learner can pick as many days of the week to do this as he/she is comfortable with. And if your student misses it, the video will be online for the student to review.

This class is one of four levels of SAT prep classes. Here are all of them...

Then there is the class with the most variety of questions mixed together as they would on the exam. It's called "Kickin' It! PSAT/SAT Prep- a Word Problem, Geom Problem, & Algebra Problem-Each Brief Meeting" and can be found at this link: https://outschool.com/classes/kickin-it-psatsat-prep-a-word-problem-geom-problem-and-algebra-problem-each-brief-meeting-kqQZ5KID#usjMLMcnyB

I've been teaching math for sixteen years and I've been a personal SAT tutor for seven years. My students have typically raised their scores between 150 and 300 points.

Learners reinforce their skills in algebraic terminology and tricks! We all study and prepare for the SAT as best as we can. And we may even feel like we can do algebra pretty well. But what separates the good SAT math scores from those of excellence is the student who doesn't have to stop to try to remember how to approach something. While everyone sometimes has to do that, there is still hope! There are certain tricks and terms in algebra that can be drilled and reinforced for speed. That could make big difference in your final score!

This class will take SAT Practice questions and work through them with the students to keep them on track for being ready for the PSAT/SAT. I keep the class lively, informative, and encourage learner input while helping every understand we're in the same boat - everyone is learning!

Buckle in! It's going to be a fun class!
Learning Goals
After several cycles of these five weekly topics, your learner will be able to say, "I can more easily and quickly solve challenging level PSAT / SAT math problems that involve the following topics: Unconventional Word Problems, Exponential Growth, Decay, and Logrhythms, More Complex Systems of Linear Equations, Two Dimensional Geometry Problems, and Three Dimensional Geometry Problems."

Students will be more prepared for challenging level math problems on the PSAT/SAT, and thereby preparing them for the more advance PSAT/SAT prep which is covered in the Kick It course (non-junior edition).

New problems sets are being curated constantly. I look for only the most difficult problems so it takes time. Currently we're up to 10 problems sets and those are growing. Students gain from repeating the cycle with the same problems set because it takes over 10 weeks and the problems feel fresh - allowing them to practice what they learn.

Parental Guidance
Students will have far more fun if they have studied linear equations and are comfortable with the terminology and concepts. This class is not an introductory or concept teaching class. Its sole purpose is to build speed and students are expected to be familiar enough to participate. This class is for more experienced students who have advanced into high school math or students who mastered the easy and medium level Kick It! SAT Prep, and are ready to plunge into the "black diamonds" of SAT questions.

I've been certified in the public schools for teaching math in middle and high schools. I received additional certified training for gifted and talented learners. I taught math for sixteen years and I've been a personal SAT tutor for seven years. My students have typically raised their scores between 100 and 300 points. As a chemical engineer and project management professional in the world of business consulting and information technology consulting, I've completed over five levels of college calculus and applied mathematics and used these math and computing skills throughout my career.

The students I have taught had varying learning abilities that ranged from one with pronounced learning disabilities to gifted and talented. When it came to PSAT's and SAT's, each of them with impressive improvements in their scores.

It can be done! Just watch how your learner improves!
