This class will be a teacher-driven discussion class that will emphasize why budgeting is important. It will talk about what budgeting can be done as a teenager and a prospective college student. We will focus on discussing the need to save for schools and talk about the dangers of relying on student loans and credit cards. We will also discuss how to budget and each student will create a budget that they can use. Students will * make goals * Make a list of wants and needs * create a budget * learn about how much college costs * Learn how important budgeting and saving is * learn the dangers of relying on student loans and credit cards to pay for school.

Supply List
Students will need paper and a writing utensil. Ledger paper is preferred but not a must. This is available at Walmarts or Dollar Stores as well as any Office Supply store.

I believe budgeting is important. Teenagers need to learn how important money is and how it should be treated. Students should also be made aware of the dangers of taking out student loans and relying on credit cards. I am excited to teach this because as I interact with others and especially my husbands family I have realized that budgeting from a young age is not being addressed and internalized as often as it should.
