Has your Child ever express interest in traveling the World? Did your learner ever want to participate in your vacation planning? Would you like your child to plan your vacation for you? If they ever complained about a trip you took, why not include them in the planning process. “I haven't been everywhere, but it's on my list.” ― Susan Sontag As a solo female traveler, I have traveled for about 5 years and visited over 85 countries, meeting people, always looking to immerse myself in the local culture and explore off-the-beaten path. I am looking forward to sharing my love of travel and my curiosity about the world with your learner! In this ongoing class we will learn all about Travel one topic at a time. Every week we will dive deep into a new subject, including the pros and cons of various transportation methods or accommodations types, things to consider when researching and planning your next trip, etc . To awaken learners' curiosity we will aim to ask all kinds of questions and explore the possible answers and opportunities. We will keep this class very interactive and fun! Join us at any time to learn more! :) Each class content will vary depending on the topic, however there will be a common structure to each class: - Brief introduction - What do you know or have heard about the respective topic? - Presentation of new information (including pros and cons) - Pictures, videos, virtual reality tours, virtual travel or field trip (using Nearpod) - Classes will often include some information (from real travel experience of the teacher) about the respective topic - Optional Kahoot Game (to check the retention of the new information in a fun, engaging way) I strongly believe that traveling can awaken learners' curiosity in so many different disciplines and of course just make them better understanding of the world around them. This is a fun and interactive class. Student are invited to actively participate by asking/answering questions, expressing their opinion, and making suggestions on what they want to learn about in future classes including which topics we will cover. We will use a Nearpod presentation for visuals (pictures, virtual reality tours and short videos) and to increase participation (collaboration boards and polls). I invest a lot of time each week to prepare for this class, researching and creating a fun presentation. Topics covered: Week of September 5 --> Different Methods of Transportation Week of September 12 --> Different types of Accommodations Week of September 19 --> Where to Travel? Week of September 16 --> How to Research? Week of October 3 --> What Clothing to Bring (considering weather, climate, local traditions, religions, etc.) Week of October 10 --> Passport and Visa requirements for International Travel Week of October 17 --> Important phrases in host language (especially if you have medical concerns like allergies) Week of October 24 --> Mistakes to Avoid While Traveling Week of October 31 --> Pros and Cons of Traveling with a Plan Week of November 7 --> Budgeting for a Trip Week of November 14 --> Safety More topics: "Leave no trace" attitude (travel responsibly), *If there are other topics that the learners are interested in learning more about, please feel free to request it and we can add it to the schedule. I hope to meet your traveler in class soon! :)
