In this beginner-friendly workshop, we will be exploring important production tools using the free online software BandLab. The workshop will cover: navigating the DAW, recording and editing audio, using the sampler, operating MIDI/digital instruments, and operating a mixer. I will teach by creating a song real-time using each property of the interface. One by one, we will cover: navigating the interface, recording and editing audio, using the sampler, operating midi instruments, and using the mixer. We will finish the workshop with time for questions and open discussion.

The class will be taught via a screenshare of me using BandLab. It is not required for learners to create an account on there, but I would recommend for them to so they can follow along with the presentation and practice the skills we learned later on. If your learner chooses to create an account, you (the parent/guardian) must read and agree to the terms of use and privacy policy.

Hi! I’m Mr. Bennett. I am a voice teacher, music production teacher, and more than anything a music theory nerd who’s passionate about education. I draw upon 10 years of formal study in vocal performance and music theory. As a musician who has experience with styles ranging all the way from Baroque choral music to EDM and back again, I believe that learning foundational skills gives us the versatility and freedom to work across all genres holistically. My philosophy is that we all have our own unique musical identities, my mission is to help you find and own yours.
