This course is designed to introduce your learner to the basics of reading the nutrition facts label. We will cover topics that include what the nutrition facts label is, nutrients listed and their meanings, serving sizes, % daily value, and the ingredient list: all based on American dietary guidance. Your learner will be gain insights into how to select healthier food options based on the nutrition facts label. This class is primarily discussion-based but will include PowerPoint, other visual aids, and activities to facilitate learning. I have a laid-back approach to teaching and encourage students to be involved and ask questions. Therefore, learners will have the ability to interact with me via discussion and interactive slides. No prior knowledge or experience is needed for this course, just a willingness to learn.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have a BS in Dietetics from Purdue University. I have acquired the credentials NDTR(Nutrition, Dietetic Technician Registered) I also have a little over 8 years working in the WIC program and have conducted numerous nutrition presentations to my local church and various Boy Scout groups.
