Class Experience
In this 1 on 1, class we'll about a variety of nutrition-based topics and self-care strategies to better equip students to make their own healthy lifestyle choices. During each meeting, we will cover a nutrition topic and a self-care topic. Students can choose to follow the listed topics or suggest/request something they are particularly interested in. I am an energetic and goofy teacher😛. I love to make sure my students feel heard 👂🏼 and included. They’ll have ample opportunity to ask questions, share, and even introduce new or adjacent topics. Along with the fun, helpful slides and useful handouts, I include humor and brain🧠 breaks😴 in every class. Nutrition Topics (the following is not an exhaustive list) nutrition labels & packaged foods fats, carbohydrates & protein vitamins & minerals “junk” food & cravings antioxidants whole foods vs processed food chemical additives in food skipping meals overeating water eating the rainbow feeding your brain gut bacteria and our food Self-Care Topics (the following is not an exhaustive list) self-care and how it affects people positive self-talk exercise for energy and focus setting goals sleep for our body and brain meditation mindfulness downtime outside time basic body care (hygiene) talking journaling (writing or drawing) organizational tools to manage stress & get things done! **We can cover a large variety of other topics as requested. Some other options include puberty, screen time, sneaking food, and diet trends.** ***This class is based on scientific evidence and discusses the science of nutrition and health-related behaviors. This course is not nutritional or mental health counseling. It is not meant to give dietary, medical, or mental health services. Learning Goals
Students will learn about different types of food and how they impact the body and brain. They'll also learn about self-care behaviors and how they improve health and wellbeing.

I have spent most of the last decade developing and teaching curricula for youth and family community health programs.
