Class Experience

Beginner Level
We will start every class by asking and answering questions in Swedish, including;

What is your name?
My name is [...]

How are you?

What is the weather like for you today?
Today it is [...]

In this class, students will learn the names of family members in Swedish. Your child will practice saying and writing words such as "mamma" (mom), "pappa" (dad), "bror" (brother), and "syster" (sister). We will also cover the very specific words for grandparents in Swedish.

We will also cover adjectives and colors. The children will learn how to describe objects and their surroundings using words like "stor" (big), "liten" (small), "blå" (blue), and "grön" (green) to make their descriptions more vivid and engaging. We will create "characters" on the whiteboard to learn the colors and adjectives. For example, two characters called Large Red and Small Red.

Moreover, we will delve into the world of everyday objects, both indoors and outdoors, equipping your child with practical vocabulary to describe their immediate environment. We will ask each other: What do you see? And answer: I see a car.

Mastering the concepts of placements and directions is important, so we will concentrate on words like "på" (on), "under" (under), "framför" (in front of), and "bakom" (behind), as well as left and right. Together, we will create a few whiteboards to learn the words.

Then, we will combine it all and use objects, adjectives, and placement words to form sentences, reinforcing their vocabulary and boosting their confidence in using Swedish in everyday situations. For example, I see a large blue book beside a red pen.

Finally, we will learn the names of trees and flowers in Swedish. We will cover words like "träd" (tree), "blomma" (flower), "ek" (oak), and "ros" (rose). We will discuss how some of these words are similar in English and Swedish.

A document will be posted in the classroom with everything needed for the class.
