Class Experience

Hej och välkommen!

Swedish is an old language tied to the Norse language but has also been influenced by German, French, and English.

It is important that the student has taken my other Swedish classes before you enroll in this class. However, if your student already knows some Swedish due to family, don't hesitate to contact me if you want to register.

There will be a booklet that I will send to everyone upon enrollment that it is imperative that you print out because we will use this one in class.
I also suggest buying a Swedish-English dictionary.

We will start every class with saying hello, asking how you are doing, talking about the weather and what we had for breakfast.

Week 1 Bästa vänner- Dannie och Tilda- Best Friends Dannie and Tilda ( reading, translating, writing about yourself, and introducing yourself)

Week 2 and 3: På jobbet- At Work (reading and translating)

Week 4 and 5 Krångliga ord och barnramsor Difficult pronunciations and Nursery Rhymes (pronunciation and vocabulary)

Week 6 Baka chokladbollar- understanding a recipe and baking in class. I will be baking in class, and the students are welcome to bake during class.

Week 7-8 Välkommen till Sverige-We will use Google maps, look at cities and locations in Sweden, and practice practical phrases, including directions and asking where the bathroom is. I will screen share Google maps and show the students. The students will not use Google maps by themselves.

Week 9: Fylla i en blanket- fill out a form and learn the words for first name, last name, address, etc., and what a "personnummer" is.

Week 10: Vad är klockan? What time is it? Learn the specific ways to say what time it is in Swedish.
