Class Experience

ASL for beginners is an exciting and interactive class for children who want to learn Sign Language!

During this  course the children will learn the following signs:

- The Alphabet
- How to Count from 1-100
- Their colors
- Animals
- Food
- Emotions 
- Family 
- Locations around the city
- Clothes
- Patterns
- Telling Time
- Time Words
- Question Words
- Health and Emergency Signs
- ASL Grammar
- They Will Learn to Fingerspell Their Names
- Requests - please, excuse me, thank you, help, who, what, when, where, why, how, stop
- Learn conversations and questions such as, "My name is _______", "What is your name?", "Where is the bathroom?", "How are you?", and TONS more!!

We will cover vocabulary, grammar, conversational skills, and Deaf culture. This course will be tons of fun!!! 

No previous knowledge of ASL is needed! Minimal knowledge is ASL is fine as well! I am looking forward to learning, laughing, and signing with your children soon!!

Class policy: Each student must have a camera on during this so that I can help them with the correct hand-forms and locations, this is an essential part of learning in this course. Student's will also be engaging and practicing their ASL signs with conversations and their hands must be seen for this. If the student does not want their face seen, they may angle the camera to only show their hands.

Syllabus

10 Lessons
over 10 Weeks
Lesson 1:
The Alphabet, Numbers, and Introductions
 Students will learn the American Sign Language alphabet, numbers 1-100, and how to introduce yourself.

Lesson 2:
Animals and Colors
 We will learn animals, the proper order to describe animals, and conversational ASL on this topic.

Lesson 3:
Food and Money
 In this lesson, we will learn all of the food and money signs. We will also have shopping conversations.

Lesson 4:
ASL Grammar, Time, Questions
 Students will learn the basics of ASL grammar, time concepts, and question words. They will also begin translating and conversing in ASL.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
