In this ongoing class, students will practice using a grammar concept. In this class, students will review a grammar concept and will apply the concepts in different activities. Each week, learners will focus on a different grammar concept so learners are welcome to join anytime. In each class, learners will .... - Have a minilesson on a grammar concept - Practice using the grammar concept - Edit a paragraph (and correctly apply the grammar concept) - Complete a story by using the grammar concept correctly **** BACKGROUND **** Many times, learners do not receive enough practice with grammar. This course is designed to give learners time to practice and apply each grammar concept. **** CLASS BREAKDOWN **** ** MINILESSON ** At the beginning of each class, learners will receive a minilesson on the weekly grammar skill. The minilesson will include: - Definition/explanation of the grammar concept - Examples of the grammar concept in sentences ** PRACTICE ** After the minilesson, learners will practice using the grammar concept in sentences. Learners will .... - Fill in sentences with the correct word - Write sentences using the grammar concept ** EDITING ** Learners will be presented with a paragraph. The grammar concept will not be used correctly throughout the paragraph. Learners will correct the paragraph by applying their understanding of the grammar skill. ** STORY COMPLETION ** Learners will be given part of a story. Students will complete the story. As they write the rest of the story, learners will apply their knowledge of the grammar skill to their story.
