Homework
1-2 hours per week. There will be homework each week with the parts of the speech. Each week the students will do a fill in the blank passage to further their knowledge of the parts of speech.Class Experience
US Grade 3 - 6
The students will learn the different parts of speech by using the book series "What is a ____?" by Brian P. Cleary and creating their own lists and phrases. We will also use fill in the blank stories to make learning fun and engaging to learn the different parts of speech. Each class will focus on a different part of speech and the student will create their own lists. As we continue to learn the parts of speech the students will turn their lists into phrases. The students will also be able to turn their phrases into their own fill in the blank stories. Each week the students will have a short homework assignment to complete. All participation will be in the Outschool classroom. I will post the lesson and assignments in the classroom. The lessons will be recorded then uploaded on youtube. The post will be everyday Monday- Friday to keep the lesson short. The students and I will communicate with each other through responding to the posts in the classroom and through Outschool's messaging system. Week 1: What is a noun? What is an adjective? Week one will focus on nouns and adjectives. The students will also learn about proper nouns and pronouns. Week 2: What is a verb? What is an adverb? Week two will focus on verbs and adverbs. Verbs are actions words so get ready for a lot of movement during this session! Week 3: Review and start writing Week three will be a review of nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs using fill in the blank stories. We will also start turning the lists into phrases to start the student's own stories. Week 4: Introduction to prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections Week four will be an introduction to the propositions, conjunctions, and interjections to make stories more exciting! The student will also continue to improve their stories using these parts of speech. Class 5: Review and share stories The students will review the parts of speech learned and share their own fill in the blank stories. This is a flexible schedule class which means there will be no LIVE meetings scheduled. All participation will be done on the classroom on the Outschool website. I will schedule a live class upon request. If you want a live class please message me and let me know days/times that work for you. I try my best to include everyone but with different time zones and schedules it can be difficult.

Supply List
I will provide all the example fill in the blank stories. The book series is not needed but if the students want a copy they can get one from the library. I will read the book series to them during class. The students will need paper and pencils during class to write their lists.

Beyond my teaching experience, I have a diverse background in agriculture and farming. My husband and I are actively involved in raising quarter horses for working cow horse competitions. I find joy in merging my love for agriculture with my teaching endeavors, incorporating elements of farm life and nature into my lessons. It's a unique way to engage students and broaden their understanding of the world around them.
