Get Moving With Math!

In this weekly class, learn all about the numbers 1-20 by moving your body. Great for squirmy learners! We will practice counting, simple addition and subtraction, and reading graphs and ten frames.

Class Experience

In this ongoing course, learners will practice everyday math skills in a fun and engaging way!  The goal is to help learners get out their wiggles and interact with peers, all while learning their numbers.   While each week will have a featured number, we will cover 1-20 each week through our movement activities. Every student that wants it will get their chance in the spotlight to show off their movement and math skills! Each week will have a theme, and each class will touch on a combination of the following skills:
     -Recognizing numbers 1-20
     -Adding and subtracting single digits (and identifying math symbols)
     -Predicting patterns
     -More than and less than
     -Comparing and sorting objects by size
     -Number formation
     -Skip counting by 2s and 5s
     -Two dimensional shapes
     -Positional words (next to, under, over, etc.)

Each class will follow the following format:
     -Introduction of the number of the week using simple slide show or manipulatives
     -Practicing number formation by drawing the number in the air
     -Movement activity

Weekly Themes:
Week of 12/6: Number of the week- 1   
                       Topic: Counting 1-20 with Dogs
Week of 1/5: Number of the week- 2
                         Topic: Skip Counting Winter fun (Make believe snowball fight, anyone?)
Week of 1/12:  Number of the week- 3
                        Topic: Sorting Dinosaurs by Size
Week of 1/19: Number of the week- 4
                         Topic: Positional Words Dance (Learn some new moves!)

Learning Goals

Students will build and improve their early math skills such as number formation and recognition, basic shapes, counting to 20, reading bar graphs, and comparing objects by size and quantity.

Parental Guidance
Please make sure that your little learner wears comfortable clothes and shoes, has space to move around, and a drink of water nearby.
