Homework
1-2 hours per week. Ideally students should practice several times each week between lessons. The amount of time varies depending on the age of the student and their preferences, but in general it is better to practice more frequently for a shorter amount of time than to practice once or twice for a longer period.

Supply List
You will need a recorder. You may choose to play soprano recorder or the alto recorder. The soprano is the standard size for most children and the easiest to start with. The alto recorder is larger, and is well suited for many middle and high school students.
Many options can be purchased at your local music store or online. I recommend Yamaha, Aulos and Angel recorders. Your recorder should be able to be taken apart in at least two pieces (three is also good!) Plastic recorders are very affordable and practical.
If you need to be able to adapt the placement of the holes on the recorder, there is an adaptive model available. I recommend the Aulos A204AF Soprano Recorder, Adaptive Model, available at www.westmusic.com

A recorder method book may also be suitable for some students. This will be determined on a case-by-case basis, and discussed in lessons.
