Beginner Level
This is a beginner recorder group class that does not require any knowledge to join. Students will learn the basics of how to play the recorder and read music notation. Students will learn how to play songs on the recorder and be able to identify how to place specific notes on the instrument. Here are some of the example topics that will be covered. - Recorder basics - How to play specific notes - How to identify notes - How to read simple music notations - How to play specific songs - Rhythmic principles - Whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, eighth notes - What is a measure? - How to count. - The musical alphabet - Beginner music theory concepts ⇢ Week of 11/11: Recorder basics. How to hold and play the instrument. Students will learn notes B, A, and G. Students will learn a simple song. ⇢ Week of 11/18: Students will learn the F note and a new song. We will discuss rhythm/timing basics. ⇢ Week of 11/25: Students will learn the E note and a new song. We will discuss whole notes, half notes, and quarter notes. ⇢ Week of 12/2: Students will learn the C and D notes. Students will learn a new song.

I teach music classes for the ukulele, guitar, and harmonica. I teach classes about writing, debating, and creating logical arguments without fallacies. I have a small farm and live in a yurt in western Colorado. My wife, Brooke VanDyke, is an excellent ukulele teacher on Outschool as well.
