Beginner Level
**You are welcome to enroll at any time! Join us!** We will study the first half of second-grade English language arts. In reading, this includes story structure, comparative folk tales, and character point of view. In writing, this includes complete sentences, expanding sentences with adverbs and adjectives, irregular plurals, collective nouns, and personal narrative essays. In addition to these, we will study phonics to strengthen spelling and reading. Our class will begin with a discussion, modeling from me, group work, and independent work. We will also play learning games, watch videos usually created by myself, and read books. Some of these books will be online.
Learning Goals
Reading: strengthen decoding, comprehension, and critical thinking skills.
Writing: strengthen sentence and paragraph building through the use of adjectives, adverbs, collective nouns, and irregular plurals.
