Class Experience

Spend time improving your habits and developing a positive outlook on life! This course encourages self-reflection, making time for ourselves and finding the good in our lives, goal setting, and effective planning. As our class progresses, learners will feel inspired and motivated to make positive changes in their lives.

Please note, there are no live meetings for this class. Each lesson will have one specific focus as listed below. The lesson videos, discussion prompts, and suggested activities will be thought-provoking and provide learners with ideas, inspiration, and motivation in the areas of self-care, gratitude, and planning your day.

Lesson 1: Self-Care: We will talk about the value of self-care, introduce many self-care ideas, and provide motivation to add self-care into our routines. Focus areas include healthy habits, journaling, and the value of creative pursuits.

Lesson 2: Cultivating Gratitude: We will discuss five steps toward building a habit of gratitude that prompt you to think beyond the basic things you are grateful for to really appreciate many moments in your day and how you can use this skill during tough times. This habit of gratitude leads to increased joy, contentment, self-confidence, and trust!

Lesson 3: Identifying Goals: We will focus on 3 goal areas (Your Environment, Creativity, and Healthy Habits) and how to identify goals in each of these areas that will help us be more productive, ensure our space works for us, understand the importance of creative pursuits & hobbies, and develop healthy habits.

Lesson 4: How to Plan Your Day: Learn an effective and simple process to use when planning your day and creating a schedule, resulting in productivity, focus, and goal achievement! Get ideas & tools, motivation, and a system for how to best plan your days. Thoughtful planning helps you use your time efficiently, be prepared for what your day holds, and decreases stress and worry over what still needs to get done. You will also find that this helps you achieve your goals (identified in detail in Week 3) because they become a part of your daily or weekly routine.

Each lesson includes a 20–30-minute instructional video. Plan to have pen & paper with you as you watch each video so that you can take notes and participate in the suggested activities.

Additionally, 3 - 4 discussion questions or thought prompts pertaining to the week's topic will be posted along with the lesson. These are meant to further the learners' understanding and application of what was shared in the instructional video that week. These discussion questions, thought prompts, and activities also allow the teacher to give feedback, encouragement, and answer questions.

Plan to devote 20-30 minutes each week watching the instructional video, as well as 15-20 minutes each week answering the questions or prompts yourself.
