Homework
1 hour per week. Each week, the learner will receive a homework assignment to practice the writing skill that was covered in class. This assignment should take no longer than one hour. The student should upload the assignment to the classroom before the next assigned class. The teacher will make corrections and send the assignment back to the student. The writing assignment will be discussed in the next class briefly before the new class topic is introduced.Assessment
Assessments will be informal unless a parent requests otherwise. Frequent parent feedback will be given to help parents know how their learner is progressing in improving in his/her writing skills.Class Experience
These are customized one-on-one writing tutoring classes. The student will be evaluated in the first class to determine writing level and proficiency. Depending on the learner's current writing ability and goals, students may work on a variety of skills. Lessons will be chosen according to the student's individual level of writing ability. Learners will be challenged to use exciting verbs and descriptive words to make their writing interesting. Writing topics will be chosen according to the student's interest to help engage the learner in the writing process. Each class will include instruction around a specific writing skill. Then, the student and teacher will practice the skill together. The learner will receive a writing assignment that can later be uploaded to the classroom. The teacher will correct this assignment before the next class, allowing the student to make any needed changes. Regular parent feedback will be given to ensure the student receives optimal impact from these tutoring sessions.
Learning Goals
