High Schoolers- How to Interview well for your Dream Job!
Class experience
US Grade 9 - 12
Students will learn how to prepare effectively for interviews. We will cover typical types of questions that can be asked, practice answering these questions, and discuss how students can remain confident and calm throughout the interview. Students will also get a chance to discuss "what ifs" that may unexpectedly occur before, during, or after an interview. I'll also share how and when to reach out of the interviewer afterwards thanking them for the chance to interview. Topics covered...
Students will become more confident preparing for, going into, and leaving an interview. Students will discover how to promote themselves as the best person for the job they're applying for.
I am an experienced middle and high school English teacher who has previously worked with students in writing resumes, cover letters, and practing interview skills. Having interviewed numerous times throughout the years as I've moved up in the field of education to administration, I have a unique lens on how to come across calm and confident during interviews. I also provide services as a career mentor to graduate students at Capella University, where I recently received my EdD.
Homework Offered
Students video themselves practicing their answers to a range of practicie interview questions. They have the possibilty to book a follow-up class with the teacher in order to receive feedback on their practice interview.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
