Whether you are traveling to visit natural wonders, going for walks around your neighborhood, or exploring your back yard, this class will give you the tools you need to not only take good snapshots, but understand the how and why of capturing amazing photos. Students will learn about how photography techniques and technology can best be used to explore nature photography. Students will improve their photography skills and learn the meanings of key terms, including: - Composition - Rule of Thirds - Exposure - Depth of Field - F-Stop - Lenses - Cropping - Shutter Speed - ISO
I have been a teacher for over a dozen years and a photographer for twice that long.
Students will be expected to complete the following homework each week: - View presentation - Respond to discussion prompt at least once - Complete research graphic organizer - Capture at least five photos
Learners need to have a digital camera. They may use a phone camera to complete all assignments, but some may be more difficult without a standalone Single Lens Reflex camera.
Students will receive a numerical grade for their responses to weekly quizzes. They will also receive formative (practice) feedback on their research and photos.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Please check photos which your child uploads to ensure that they do not contain any sensitive information, such as addresses or faces of people who do not participate in social media.
