What's included

12 live meetings
9 in-class hours
Homework
1-2 hours per week. In between classes, students will be instructed to explore their newfound skills by practicing taking photos. Each student will pick their 1-3 best images (dependant on class size) to have presented next class. I ask that parents please send me student photos directly, or have the student upload the photos to the classroom so all images can be presented together, and at the same quality.

Class Experience

In this 6-week DSLR photography summer camp (meeting twice per week), we will learn how to use any camera with "manual mode" to its full potential! We will learn about shutter speed, aperture, and ISO, and how they work together to create amazing images. Once we have covered the basics of operating our cameras, we will have fun exploring composition and some of the most popular types of photography! We will learn about the elements and principles of composition and how they work together to create amazing images. We will also practice using constructive criticism to analyze each other's work.

This class is aimed at beginner photographers, no prior knowledge or experience necessary. I do recommend exploring your camera with your learner prior to our first class, to find out how these settings are controlled in their particular camera model.

Week One: Class One- DSLR Basics & Shutter Speed, Class 2- Aperture & White Balance
Week Two: Class One- ISO & Manual Mode, Class 2- Manual Mode Continued
Week Three: Class 1- Elements of Composition, Class 2- Principles of Composition
Week Four: Class 1- Nature Photography, Class 2- Street and Night Photography
Week Five: Class 1- Portrait Photography, Class 2- Black & White Photography
Week Six: Class 1- Recap and Final Assignment Prep, Class 2- Final Assignment Presentations

Each class will start with an engaging and informative presentation that includes lots of sample photos taken by the teacher.
Students will then have the chance to ask any questions they may have, and spend some time practicing with their cameras.
There will be a printout available after each class summarizing all discussed techniques to help them during their photoshoots.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! I'm Sabrina.

I live in Ontario, Canada with my furry and scaly companions. Specifically, I share my home with 4 cats and a wide variety of geckos!

Photography and animals are my two greatest passions in life. I have been taking photos for as long as I can remember, and over time it evolved into my career. I went to Sheridan College, specializing in photography. I now operate my own business where I specialize in photographing families, pets, engagements, newborns, and more!
I am excited to teach classes all about how to take a great photo, both technically and creatively.

Secondary to my photography business, I have a passion for animals of all kinds. I run a small reptile rescue out of my home, focusing mainly on leopard geckos. I take in a variety of different reptiles in various states of health. I am dedicated to learning as much as possible about these creatures and sharing my knowledge with others so they can properly care for and appreciate them. Hopefully, this will reduce the need for rescues like mine in the future.

As an educator, I believe that the classroom should be a place where students can have fun and engage in interactive experiences. My classes are designed to spark curiosity and inspire excitement in students. I am eager to help each student discover their passions and talents

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
Can’t wait to meet you in class!
