Students will practice:
-- Character/creature design
-- Drawing from observation
-- Shading, creating texture, and creating backgrounds (as time allows)  
-- Some weeks may include optional additional media practice such as ink, watercolor, or colored pencil (as desired by student)

In my (many) years of teaching art, I've discovered that the best way to impart effective drawing skills is by demonstrating them firsthand.  Drawing together with my students is a great way to illustrate technique while helping them to build the critical thinking and observational skills they need to continue working on their own.  My ultimate goal is to nurture the skills and confidence of my young artists, and foster their passion for creative expression!

While no previous drawing classes are required, students with fluid drawing skills or comfort in sketching will find themselves particularly at home in this class, as it's designed for exploration rather than step-by-step instructions.
