Week 1Lesson 1Gesture Drawing & SimplificationHow to begin a drawing using "sketchy" lines & simplified shapes. Sketch everything the right shape, size, and placement.Week 2Lesson 2Using Negative SpaceWhat is negative space? How to use empty spaces to sketch everything the right size and in the right place.Week 3Lesson 3Adding Texture & ShadingHow to embellish our gesture sketches. Students will learn techniques that will help them draw more accurately, from observation. These techniques include: gesture drawing, contour line drawing, negative space, blocking in shadows, and perspective. This is an INTRODUCTORY course-- true mastery of these techniques will require much practice, but this is a great place to start!
