This class is for younger artists who love to draw people, and want to practice making them look more realistic. Each week, I'll demonstrate how to draw a person in an action pose. We begin with a light, simple sketch. Then we add more detail, including clothing and a background. Students may make requests during class, and I'll incorporate them whenever possible! In my "draw together" classes, we draw together step-by-step, and I check in with my students frequently to help them check their drawing's proportions. Those with creative ideas they'd like to add are encouraged to do so-- my goal is to help them build the skills they need to draw any kind of person they can imagine! Towards the end of class, students will have time to add color and other details, as desired. For our last few minutes, we'll take a little time to share our drawings with one another! "Share time" is optional, so no pressure for those who are shy, but we love the chance to admire one another's work :). We'll choose our subjects together at the beginning of class, but here are some examples of things we could draw: -- People playing sports! -- Superheroes! -- Characters from our favorite books & movies! -- Fairy tale characters! -- People running, jumping, or playing! -- People working at their jobs! *** What will YOU suggest!? ***************************************************** If you're new to Outschool you can follow the link below for some handy tips to get started! https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1k0xR4oZLyBipJ1w4HtgeTq9Ok7qD9JB3tL_x5KpdpUw/edit?usp=sharing To see more of Ms. Kristy's classes, visit my teacher profile here: https://outschool.com/teachers/Kristine-Mankin#us3u0MdGLD
Learning Goals
Students will practice using simplification to draw proportionate, realistic figures, adding clothing or costumes, and drawing backgrounds. My goal is to give young artists a solid foundation in realistic drawing, which they can build on as they get older and continue to practice!
Other Details
Parental Guidance
We will sometimes draw people of different body types and physical abilities. Students will be encouraged and expected to treat all people with respect, both in their drawings and with their words.
Supply List
All you'll need for this class is paper, pencil, and an eraser! Drawing in a sketchbook or on a digital tablet would also be fine for this class. Students may choose to finish their work in color media if they feel so inspired: - colored pencils - watercolor paints - markers - crayons - another medium of your preference!
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
