Description
Class Experience
Students will learn to be confident in their singing voice while beginning to demonstrate proper vocal technique.
I am a licensed elementary and middle school teacher with a B.A. in Theatre and Music. I also have my M.A. in Elementary Education-Curriculum and Instruction. I have a teaching license with endorsements in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Theatre, and Music. As a music teacher at my school and a vocal director, I prepare instruction on proper vocal technique and performing in a choir through topics such as ear training (sight-singing), diction, proper breath support, music history, music theory, expression, and performance musicianship and etiquette. I also choose music, and organize the Vocal Music concerts. I act as conductor for the Vocal Music concerts. In addition, I have a great love of the theater. Having received a Bachelor's in Theatre, it is so much fun to teach acting techniques in scene work, monologues, and musical numbers.
A part of a song of their choice to share with at the end of the class. Under 1 minute part of the song is preferred. They can sing this a capella or have a backtrack ready on their phone or another device to sing along to. There are many great karaoke and instrumental versions of songs on YouTube!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Brief, individual written assessment.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
