Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
In this one time session, students will be able to review formulas to find the circumference and area of circles.
*Learners are encouraged to use whiteboard or paper/pencil to write down formulas that will be introduced and solve for the practice problems.*
We will begin class with a small icebreaker to introduce everyone and jump into the content that will be presented in a google slide format. Examples will be displayed in google slide and student will be encouraged to participate, not required if learner prefers to listen in. Once we review examples, we will begin similar problems with the digital task cards that will be shared prior to class starting. Students do NOT have to print the task cards as they will be demonstrated in class but have to option to. While working with our digital task cards, students may discuss with other students strategies, formulas that were used to find the circumference/area of the circle. Practice problems will be presented in both word problems and visual circles. To help solve for accuracy measurements, students are encouraged to use a calculator app during this class. Math terms that will be reviewed: radius, diameter, circumference, area, Pi= 3.14,
- Learner should be able to perform operations: addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, know how to square a number (2^2 = 2 x 2 = 4)
- Everyone is encouraged to participate and ask questions if needed. Students will receive feedback through discussions when working with digital task cards.

*If there is extra time, learners will engage in educational game for further practice*
