This self-paced class is designed to engage learners in fun, creative and empowering learning experiences focused on gardening. The course includes invitations to explore a variety of gardening skills, plant facts, and fun DIY art & gardening projects. In addition to offering information about gardening skills & facts, the videos featured in this class will include tours of my solar greenhouse and outdoor gardens on my micro-farm in Northern New Mexico. Videos will include recordings of me leading "topic talks" along with supporting text and imagery. 🌱Throughout the session learners will be invited to connect with me through messages and/or the classroom page. I welcome any and all updates about your learner’s gardening adventures, plant observations and art projects. 🌞 CLASS TOPICS: each week will include a short (roughly 10 minute) video, and an engaging PDF activity handout for art & gardening projects🌞 1. planting seeds 2. what plants need: air, light, water 3. splendid soil 4. seedlings, big plants 5. container gardens & raised beds 6. composting & vermicomposting (worm composting!) 7. all about greenhouses 8. I completed my Master's in Innovative Early Childhood Education in May 2022; this program was centered on Social Constructivism and the Reggio Emilia Approach to Early Childhood Education. I have 20 years experience as an educator, primarily as a Teaching Artist and Reggio-inspired ECE, including 4 years as an all-virtual educator through my company Curious Bluebird, LLC. I am also a Registered Yoga Teacher (offering classes for children and adults) and certified children's Yoga instructor.
As a permaculturalist I am very interested in weaving sustainable living practices into my daily life. Since summer 2021 I've been in the process of restoring a micro-farm in Northern New Mexico and am eager to share my progress with learners and their families.
