Class Experience

In our Growth Mindset class we will:
*Embrace Challenges*
Learners with a growth mindset see challenges as opportunities to learn and grow. Rather than avoiding difficulties, they approach them with a sense of curiosity and a belief that they can overcome obstacles through effort and learning.

*View Effort as the Path to Mastery*
Learners with a growth mindset understand that effort is an important component of success. They recognize that putting in hard work, seeking help when needed, and persisting through difficulties are essential steps on the journey to mastery.

*Learn from Criticism*
Constructive feedback and criticism are seen as valuable sources of information for improvement. Instead of taking feedback personally, learners with a growth mindset can use it as a tool to enhance their skills and refine their approach.

*Celebrate Others' Success*
Rather than feeling threatened by others' achievements, those with a growth mindset celebrate the success of their peers. They see others' accomplishments as opportunities to learn, draw inspiration, and set new goals for themselves.

*Persevere in the Face of Setbacks*
Setbacks and failures are not seen as indicators of a lack of ability but as temporary setbacks. Learners with a growth mindset bounce back from failures, analyze what went wrong, and use the experience to adapt and improve.

*Cultivate a Love for Learning*
Learners with a growth mindset have a genuine love for learning. They see learning as a lifelong journey, and their motivation comes from the joy of discovering new things and expanding their knowledge.

*Believe in the Power of Change*
A growth mindset is rooted in the belief that one's abilities and intelligence are not fixed traits. It is the understanding that through dedication, learning, and resilience, learners can change and improve over time.
Your learner will not only gain essential life skills but also develop a positive and resilient mindset that will serve them well into adolescence and beyond.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Ms. Lynita. I have been a certified teacher for over 25 years, with experience ranging from preschool and kindergarten to secondary education. I've taught several subjects, and I specifically taught Spanish to students of all ages for over 15 years. On Outschool, I have multiple courses that I bring my expertise to including: Growth Mindset, Mindfulness, and my most popular class, Gratitude. I also offer many fun classes like How to get Your Closet Organized, and United States Dialect (Speaking American) courses where students can learn from each others' experiences.
I'm excited to have the opportunity to continue teaching and sharing my knowledge and positive outlook with my students.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a Spanish Endorsement from Iowa Wesleyan University. During my studies, I was immersed in the Spanish language, and in other cultures, while living with a family in Costa Rica and experiencing their culture. I love sharing the Spanish language with both new and experienced students!

I love helping students figure out how to live their best life by practicing gratitude, having a "can do" attitude, and working through stress and difficult situations.

I am able to incorporate a variety of teaching practices, such as visual, auditory, and hands-on learning. I often model with the teaching strategy: I do, we do, you do. This ensures all learners are able to absorb the lesson by first watching and then doing. I love to have fun in class and I try to incorporate fun songs, sayings, or games to help retain information.

Even though I no longer teach in a public school setting, I would be lost without teaching in some way. I enjoy teaching online and reaching students all over the world. Traveling is also a passion of mine. I believe learning about other cultures can enrich us all, and what better way than by traveling, to experience another culture in person? I am a farmer's wife and love the country life. My husband and I have 4 children and are empty-nesters. I can't wait to meet you in the classroom.
