These days teenagers are experiencing a lot of anger, sadness and anxiety and they don't know how to move through the emotions with peace, acceptance and healthy responses. Students will learn different techniques to help them, accept the emotion, lessen the intensity of the emotion and create a healthy response from the emotion. They will learn about where emotions are felt in the body. They will learn how the heart and brain are connected through emotion and how the brain needs more positive emotions in order to work properly. Students will learn HeartMath Techniques such as Heart focused breathing and Heart Coherence. Other tools they will learn include meditations and progressive muscle movement. They will also have a few writing activities to experience the benefit of letting emotion out through writing. This is not therapy. This is a class for educational purposes only.
