Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 5
The legend of King Arthur, steeped in magic, mystery, honour, bravery and betrayal, is one of the UK's most famous series of tales.
With magicians, dragons, knights, a castle and an enchanted sword, who wouldn't want to feel that they were part of Arthur's exciting - if perilous - world?
Even if we can't be there ourselves, our characters can!

In this class, we'll be taking a look at the main players in the legends surrounding Arthur and Camelot. We'll have an overview of Arthurian legend and identify various features that play important roles in the stories.
We'll create a character to join the inhabitants of Camelot and students will decide if their character will be a knight, a noble, a magician, etc.
Finally, with the features that we looked at in mind, learners will write their own legends to join the Camelot Hall of Fame.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Writing is my passion and as well as majoring in English at university, along with Theatre Arts, I've almost 20 years of experience in teaching English in primary schools. Over those years, I have worked regularly with groups of children specifically on English writing skills and teaching creative writing online.
I have loved Arthurian legends since childhood and drew, read and wrote my way through every version I could access. I continued to learn and study the Arthurian myths into adulthood and have often used elements of the legends in the classroom and in writing groups.
