PEE Your Way to Success: 'Point, Evidence, Explain' in Non-Fiction Writing.

Being able to form an opinion or argument from a text is a vital skill but to be truly effective, students need to be able to support their point with evidence and link the two together with an explanation. Being able to PEE gives a student a framework to build an argument, essential in essay style questions, reviews or persuasive writing.
In this one time class, learners will explore the elements of point, evidence and explain, and understand the function and importance of each. Students will practice giving an opinion on various pieces of text with a mixture of discussion and interaction with slides to highlight their evidence and will play a 'True or False' game to help check understanding.

Learners will need to have a basic understanding of how to scan/ skim a text (although this will briefly be covered) and how to highlight on-screen in Zoom (instructions will be given in case of difficulty, however)
