This class will focus on how to summarize a fiction story called "Oliver Otter's Own Office" using transition words, learn about sequence within a story using transition words, and spot words with long o and short o sounds. We always start the lesson with an opinion question to give every student to practice listening and speaking in English. The teacher will use a fiction story that focuses on a vowel sound for the day. The lesson is taught with graphic organizers and hand signals to help...
Students will improve their comprehension skills by summarizing a fiction story and organizing their main parts of the story with a graphic organizer. Students will learn the 4 story elements by reading a fiction story. Students will practice long and short vowel sounds.
I have been an ELD specialist for 2 years and have experience in working with students K-6. I support English Learners develop their language skills. My goal is to help students build confidence and give them a place where they can develop their language skills. I create activities to practice reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills.
The teacher will provide additional activities for students to use to develop their understanding of summarizing a fiction story. Students can access assignments by joining my google classroom. Homework will take 30-40 minutes outside of class.
The teacher will supply all needed materials.
The teacher will listen to student responses and provide specific feedback and support on how to improve. The teacher will also provide the necessary feedback on Google Classroom when the student submits an assignment.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents of young students may need to support their child with the digital features on Zoom, Google Classroom, and Epic books.
I will be using Google Classroom to post the lesson of the day and assignment. Students may also use Epic to access digital books.
