The purpose of this course is to help young readers deepen their understanding of a variety of texts through employing many core reading strategies. Practicing these strategies will help your learners improve their comprehension of unfamiliar texts. This is an ongoing class so learners can drop in and learn about a unique reading strategy each week. Every lesson will be unique and will never be canceled due to low enrollment. This class is taught in English.
Students will improve their understanding of nine types of reading strategies to deep in their reading and comprehension skills.
I have over 20 years of elementary teaching experience, as well as 10 years of brick and mortar learning support teaching experience, with a focus in Reading and Language Arts.
Homework Offered
Minimal homework will be assigned each week. Work will begin in class as a group, but learners can finish it independently if there is not time to complete it during our class.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Learners will be assessed through teacher observation, and giving feedback on weekly work submitted or shown in class.Grades Offered
Printable handouts will be provided the day before each class. Learners will only need pencil and paper for our lessons.
