Assessment
This class is game-based and students will be given points according to their responses in a competition to "beat the teacher" approach. students will be rewarded for their social interactions as they grow throughout the course.

Class Experience

In this class, we will use a game-based approach to build social skills and conversational skills in a small group setting. Learners will be given the opportunity to pick one chill or chat question from a selection of two options to respond to such as, "What was the best present you ever received and why?' or "If you could have any pet, what would it be and why? The learners get to choose the question of their choice and have 30-60 seconds to think about their response. They will be given prompts for how to stay on topic in their answers. Other learners will be given the opportunity to provide positive feedback to their answer in a conversation style.
Each student will be given the opportunity to both answer questions and provided feedback. Each student's questions will be determined by their social skill and functional level to ensure successful conversations. Students will be given prompts for both initial answers and responses. Through this game-based approach, we will have lots of laughs and smiles! We will use slides for questions, conversation reminders and prompts. There is no required experience or previous knowledge needed as students will build confidence as they engage in lessons from week to week.

Learning Goals

Students will be able to focus on specific conversation topics, answer questions orally on topic, listen to other student responses and respond appropriately and on-topic as well. We will build conversational skills such as being an active listener, respecting the speaker and waiting our turn to speak.
