********** This class is not for beginners in chess but for players who know the basics like mate in 2 moves , discovered check , double check/ attack etc. ******************* It is useful to know a few openings tricks – move sequences that lead your opponent astray and give you a quick win. It is equally important to know such traps so that your opponent cannot use them on you. We start you on a course that is useful and at the same time quite entertaining. The lesson plan is as follows: Day 1: Italian Opening and Traps like the Blackburne Shilling Gambit, Fishing pole trap etc. Day 2 : Petrov's Opening Traps like the Marshall Trap Day 3 : Caro Kann Defense Day 4: Two Knights variation and traps Day 5: Alkhine's Defense and the four pawns attack Day 6 : Scotch game and the legal trap Day 7: French Defense and greek gift sacrifice Day 8 : Sicilian and Levenfish trap (aka Sicilian dragon) Day 9 :Scandinavian openings and Icelandic gambit Day 10 : Mixed Defenses The lesson plan will follow 25 min of teaching time and 20 minutes of game time and 5 minutes of game review. This will help learners practice the traps they have learnt. This class uses anonymous gameplay option on lichess and learners do not need a sign in . The teacher will ask questions and puzzles during explanations to keep the class interactive. This is not a lecture mode class. At the end of the teaching time , learners will play against the teacher or in a friendly healthy competition against each other. The class will be conducted even if there is 1 learner in the class.
Learning Goals
learners will delve deeper into chess and understand traps
