In this creative, story-driven workshop, students will learn Python programming — one of the most in-demand coding languages — by building exciting projects inspired by the worlds they love: Harry Potter, Minecraft, Valorant, Basketball, Wednesday, and Cobra Kai. To ensure a smooth start, it is mandatory for all students to have Python 3.12 and Visual Studio Code (VS Code) installed on their computer before the first class.
Below are the steps to help you set this up, depending on your device:
How to Install Python 3.12:
Visit the official Python website: https://www.python.org/downloads/
Click on Download Python 3.12.
Important: During installation, check the box that says “Add Python to PATH” before clicking “Install Now”.
For Windows: Run the downloaded .exe file and follow the prompts.
For Mac: Download the macOS installer and follow the instructions.
For Linux: Use the command line:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install python3.12
(For some Linux distributions, you may need to use a different package manager.)
How to Install Visual Studio Code (VS Code):
Visit https://code.visualstudio.com/
Click on Download for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
Run the installer and follow the setup instructions.
After installation:
Open VS Code.
Install the Python Extension by Microsoft:
Click on the Extensions icon on the left sidebar (or press Ctrl+Shift+X).
Search for Python and click Install.
