Homework
1 hour per week. Students will write in a journal and complete at least 3 worksheets if unable to compete during class. Homework should not take more than 30 minutes.

Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
In this 3-week class, students will learn how to have self-compassion and improve self-confidence! In this social and emotional learning lesson, students practice self-confidence by identifying and developing the tools to practice self-confidence, improve self-esteem and positive thinking. This 50-minute lesson is best for high school students. This lesson is designed to teach how to practice self-confidence with direct instruction and modeling, frequent checks for understanding, group practice, and reflection exercises. Students develop self-confidence, improve self-esteem and positive thinking by recognizing their strengths and building their sense of confidence and optimism. Learners will complete worksheets, Kahoot! game and engage in discussion questions regarding the agenda topic.

The learning lesson includes:

📘 Week 1: Building Confidence
- Students will complete a confidence assessment 
- Students will learn about confidence via slides, video clips, and Nearpod activity
- Students will practice developing confidence through a class activity and worksheet
- We will reflect on the importance of building confidence as a teen

📘 Week 2: Positive Self-esteem
- Students will define and explore self-esteem
- Students will learn the importance of having positive self-appreciation
- Students will explore self-esteem via class activity and worksheet activity 
- Students will reflect on the importance of self-esteem via class discussion

📘 Week 3: Improve Self-appreciation
- Students will learn the importance of self appreciating positive thinking
- Students will practice positive thinking via class activity and worksheet activity 
- Students will reflect on the importance of self-appreciation via class discussion 
- Students will play Kahoot! game as an assessment of understanding the information  


The teaching style will be blended with lecture, discussion, slides, video clips, and peer-to-peer discussion. We will discuss strategies and steps to improve confidence and self-esteem such as having a growth mindset. Depending on the students who are present, we may use breakout rooms. Since this class requires engagement, we may not meet unless at least two girls are enrolled. No required experience or knowledge is needed to enroll in this lesson.
