Safe & Smart Online: Internet Safety for Kids (Ages 6-11)

What will be taught?
This course covers a wide range of internet safety topics designed to equip kids with the tools they need to stay safe online. Each week features a standalone lesson, allowing learners to attend sessions without worrying about missing previous material. Topics rotate regularly and may include:

Safe Searching: How to find accurate and appropriate information online
Downloading Dangers: Recognizing risky files and avoiding malware
Sharing Smartly: What personal information should and shouldn’t be shared online
Cyberbullying Awareness: How to identify, prevent, and respond to online bullying
Gaming Safety: Recognizing safe vs. unsafe interactions in online games
Texting & Messaging Risks: Understanding the dangers of direct messaging
Recognizing Digital Trauma: What to do if something online makes you feel scared or uncomfortable
Safe Website Practices: Learning how to tell if a website is trustworthy
Homework & Research Tips: How to use the internet to find reliable school information
How is the class structured?
Each session follows a structured yet interactive format:

Introduction & Icebreaker (5-7 min) – Brief check-in and fun question related to the day's topic
Lesson Discussion (10-15 min) – Engaging slides with real-world examples and guided conversation
Interactive Quiz Game (10 min) – Fun, game-style review to reinforce key safety concepts
Scenario & Q&A (10-15 min) – Learners discuss real-life scenarios and ask questions
Since this is a recurring class rather than a progressive course, each lesson is independent, meaning kids can join at any time.
