This 6-session course is designed to build a strong foundation for learners who are new to music theory. This class is perfect for the beginner that is learning an instrument, would like to learn an instrument, or who loves to sing!

What's included

4 live meetings
2 hrs 20 mins in-class hours
Homework
1 hour per week. Homework will be assigned each week to reinforce what was taught in class. If students have any questions about the assignment please email me. We will go over all assignments in class.
Grading
I do grade the homework assignments. Final grades are offered, upon request. Letter grades are calculated based on a percentage taken from homework assessments and final project. A certificate of completion will be available, upon request.

Class Experience

Beginner Level
This class is a fantastic way for your learner to begin their journey into music. We will approach music in a fun and practical way that is great for beginners. This course will introduce learners to the staff, treble and bass clefs, rhythm, musical and rhythmic notation, dynamics, and time signatures. Each class will consist of a review of previous material for reinforcement. The class will be interactive and the learners are encouraged to actively participate throughout the class. This is a beginning class and no prior knowledge of music theory is required - all are welcome!

Curriculum:
Day 1: The musical alphabet, the music staff, treble clef and bass clef
Day 2: Rhythm, note values, measures, and bar lines, clapping and counting rhythms
Day 3: Rest values, melody, harmony, double bar lines, repeat signs
Day 4: Tempo, dynamics

Miss Brooke is very patient and is passionate about teaching music to her students. She can't wait to meet your learner and dive into the exciting world of music theory!
