Description
Class Experience
This multi-day course will meet three times over one week and will introduce students to exponents and roots. By the end of the week, students will be able to define exponents and roots as well as solve and simplify exponents and roots with variables. Students should have a basic grasp of multiplication tables as well as a familiarity with factoring to be prepared for this class. Students will learn how to solve algebraic problems with exponents and/or roots.
I have a B.S. in Secondary Mathematics Education from the University of South Florida. I have experience teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry in a public Middle School. I have 10+ years of experience as a math tutor for ages 11 to 18.
Students will be provided optional homework between classes to further practice the skills they are learning in class. The homework should take approximately 15 to 25 minutes.
The student will be provided a guided notes worksheet that will be used during class to record definitions and examples. The worksheet can also be utilized for additional practice problems after the class is over.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students will be informally assessed through guided and practice problems.
1 hour 45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
I may screen share some example questions from Khan Academy. Optional homework may be assigned through Khan Academy.
