US Grade 6 - 8
In this ongoing vocabulary class, we will explore common Greek and Latin root words, practice their meanings with fun games and activities, and learn how to apply this knowledge to deciphering unknown words. Each class, we will focus on 1-2 specific root words, such as bio or hydr. Students will be provided instruction on the root word(s), will create a word family using related words, and will have an opportunity to practice using each root's meaning in multiple ways (handouts, verbal...
This class is taught in English.
Students will improve their understanding of Greek and Latin root words and will be able to apply this information to deciphering unknown words.
I have been teaching middle school Reading and Language Arts for more than 18 years. I specialize in reading skills/strategies, teaching writing, and working with students at their own individual levels.
Homework Offered
Learners will have an optional (but strongly recommended) follow up activity after each session to help them review and practice the meanings of the new root word! These may include Flipgrid, Nearpod, graphic organizers, drawings, games, etc.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
