This three day camp is designed to support students in developing their note-taking and listening comprehension skills. Each session offers students opportunities to learn and practice note taking-strategies. Class will begin with a mini lesson on a note taking strategy that is effective for neurodivergent students with ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, and other learning differences. Students will then use the strategy of the day to take notes in response to a teacher presentation. The presentations are designed to be engaging with interesting topics requested by learners in former note-taking classes. After each class session is over, learners can assess the effectiveness of their note taking with a short comprehension quiz using an untimed Kahoot! on the material presented to help students check for understanding. An optional self assessment will also be offered in the online classroom after the conclusion of the class. The strategies taught in this class are: Session 1: Two Column Summary Notes Review 5W's of note taking and introduce the strategy of two column summary notes. Make a class summary of the subject presentation for the day. Session 2: Two Column Study Question Notes Discuss the importance of using open ended questions for study. Practice a two column note-taking strategy continues our Day 1 strategy of taking brief notes, then use those notes to develop open ended questions based on our notes. Session 3: Cornell Notes Cornell Notes brings together the techniques we learned on Day 1 and 2. They provide a note-taking template that includes space for thoughts, questions, and a summary. The Cornell Notes Strategy is often recommended by AP teachers and college professors, so this strategy prepares us for higher level academic work. Study guides to all the strategies discussed in class will be posted after each session in our online classroom. ****My refund policy**** Courses/ Camps: Free transfers upon request when sections are available. Full refund upon request up to one week before the start of class.
