Class Experience

3 lessons//1 Week
 Week 1
Lesson 1
Day 1: Two Column Summary Notes
Review 5W's of note-taking and introduce the strategy of two column summary notes. Make a class summary of the subject presentation for the day.
Lesson 2
Day 2: Two Column Study Question Notes
Discuss the importance of using open ended questions for study. Practice a two column note-taking strategy continues our Day 1 strategy of taking brief notes, then use those notes to develop open ended questions based on our notes.
Lesson 3
Day 3: Cornell Notes
Cornell notes brings together the techniques we learned on Day 1 and 2. They provide a note-taking template that includes space for thoughts, questions, and a summary. The Cornell notes strategy is often recommended by AP teachers and college professors, so this strategy prepares us for higher level academic work.
  • Students will have the opportunity to learn, practice, and evaluate a variety of note-taking strategies. They will also learn strategies on how to use their notes as an effective study tool.
