(Prerequisite) REGULAR Adding and Subtracting Knowledge In this one time class the lesson students will learn is adding and subtracting decimals. Students will begin by taking notes on the steps and rules necessary to add and subtract decimals, students will learn to apply this to examples involving money. Students will learn that every number in the world includes a decimal, even if it's not visible, students will know where it could be placed without changing the original value of the number. Students will learn how to vertically place numbers in order to perform the adding or subtracting operation when originally placed horizontally. Mathematicians will learn that the decimals must be written vertically to correctly answer a problem. Students will then work independently on a few examples and I will guide them and make sure to answer any questions they might have and anticipate any misconceptions to be corrected. We can communicate through the group chat. Students can send me the answers to their problems through the group chat and I will reply to let them know how well they are answering these examples.
Learning Goals
The goal is to understand how numbers that include decimals are placed in order to be added or subtracted.
Money has decimals, these problems are about money as well. We need money to take care of our needs so this is a real life lesson for every student out there.Other Details
Supply List
Students will need a pencil (not pens) and a big eraser if possible since math can cause for mistakes, a notebook to write notes in and a sharpener in case they need it. Also please try to print the attached assignment before class starts. Thank you.
