Essential Math Strategies: Fractions and Decimals

In this one-time session, students will review what they know about fractions and decimals. They will confidently solve math problems involving fractions.

Homework
1 hour per week. Practice math questions for mastering fractions and decimals will be assigned as homework.
Assessment
Students will complete a quick pre-assessment to tell me what they already know about fractions and decimals. This assessment will be on a Google Form.

Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 5
This class focuses on all things fractions. We will start with identifying the different parts of a fractions, and then begin comparing fractions. We will practise adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions. Students will be comfortable working on a variety of math problems involving fractions by the end of this class. As much as possible, students will be engaged in interactive activities and will be solving problems collaboratively using Google Jamboard. We will be covering specific strategies when solving problems with fractions and will be ending with review questions.

Students will improve their understanding of fractions and be comfortable working with fractions in several types of math questions by the end of this class.

Supply List
We will be working on a Google Jamboard to solve math problems involving fractions. If you are working on an iPad, it is suggested that you download the Jamboard app before the class. All other devices should work fine with Jamboard.
