Did you know that several students struggle fractions and decimals? Did you know that 68% of adults, when surveyed in 2012, reported they used fractions and decimals within their jobs? [Source: https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/ED612394.pdf] Students must gain confidence and deepen their knowledge of how to operate with fractions and decimals in order to have long-term success as we prepare them for future careers and higher education. Your learner will receive one-on-one intensive support with adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions and decimals. Your learner will engage with both the content and tutor through slideshow presentations, virtual manipulatives, virtual simulations, games, and real-world examples. Your learner will have opportunities to relate fractions and decimals to different career pathways and real-world contexts like grocery shopping, farming, money management, etc. Your learner will have multiple opportunities to discuss their thinking about fractions and decimals in order to learn how to talk about fractions and decimals in real-world contexts. __________ Class Structure 3 minutes | Greetings & Connection Activity 5 minutes | Mini-Lesson - Tutor models the skills 5 minutes | Virtual Explorations - Games & Simulations 5 minutes | Guided Practice - Learner practices with Tutor 5 minutes | Independent Practice - Learner practices independently 2 minutes | Numbers Talk - Learner talks about the skills learned 5 minutes | Closing & Homework ________ Class Sequence Week 1: -Day 1: Adding Fractions (Same Denominators) -Day 2: Adding Fractions (Different Denominators) -Day 3: Word Problems Adding Fractions Week 2: -Day 1: Subtracting Fractions (Same Denominators) -Day 2: Subtracting Fractions (Different Denominators) -Day 3: Word Problems Subtracting Fractions Week 3: -Day 1: Adding Improper Fractions (Same Denominators) -Day 2: Adding Improper Fractions (Different Denominators) -Day 3: Word Problems Adding Improper Fractions Week 4: -Day 1: Subtracting Improper Fractions (Same Denominators) -Day 2: Subtracting Improper Fractions (Different Denominators) -Day 3: Word Problems Subtracting Improper Fractions Week 5: -Day 1: Adding Mixed Numbers (Same Denominators) -Day 2: Adding Mixed Numbers (Different Denominators) -Day 3: Word Problems Adding Mixed Numbers Week 6: -Day 1: Subtracting Mixed Numbers (Same Denominators) -Day 2: Subtracting Mixed Numbers (Different Denominators) -Day 3: Word Problems Subtracting Mixed Numbers Week 7: -Day 1: Multiplying Fractions by Whole Numbers -Day 2: Multiplying Fractions by Fractions -Day 3: Multiplying Fractions by Mixed Numbers Week 8: -Day 1: Word Problems Multiplying with Fractions -Day 2: Dividing Fractions by Whole Numbers -Day 3: Dividing Whole Numbers by Fractions Week 9: -Day 1: Dividing Fractions by Fractions -Day 2: Dividing Fractions by Mixed Numbers -Day 3: Dividing Mixed Numbers by Fractions Week 10: -Day 1: Word Problems Dividing with Fractions -Day 2: Adding Decimals -Day 3: Subtracting Decimals without Regrouping Week 11: -Day 1: Subtracting Decimals with Regrouping -Day 2: Word Problems Adding Decimals -Day 2: Word Problems Subtracting Decimals Week 12: -Day 1: Multiplying Decimals by Whole Numbers -Day 2: Multiplying Decimals by Decimals -Day 3: Word Problems Multiplying with Decimals Week 13: -Day 1: Dividing Decimals by Whole Numbers -Day 2: Dividing Whole Numbers by Decimals -Day 3: Dividing Decimals by Decimals Week 14: -Day 1: Word Problems Dividing with Decimals -Day 2: Decimals Review (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, & Division) -Day 3: Fractions Review (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, & Division)
