What do you get when you combine foil, lighting, and a camera? A really cool picture! Students will learn about abstract photography and will create their own abstract photos using their smartphones, foil, and lighting. We'll discuss abstract photography and will look at various examples of this genre. We'll then discuss how to set up their scene with the subject (foil), background, and lighting. I will give guidance as the students set up and take their shots. After shooting the photos, I'll walk the students through various ways to edit their photos in order to create a striking piece of art.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about abstract photography and will practice photography basics such as lighting and editing.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Veronica Lorine, and I LOVE the arts! Before having a family of my own, I taught elementary music. After resigning, I volunteered my time teaching music at a local preschool. I also became more involved with crafting and photography. On occasion, I teach a music class at a local special needs academy. I also spend a LOT of time with photography.
I've expanded my portfolio and have been able to focus on more specialized photography. Macro, abstract, and night photography are my passions. I've received recognition for several of my photos, and I hope to continue doing so. I also have a "mystery macro" Facebook group that keeps my brain sharp.
If you'd like to see my current portfolio (which is constantly changing), visit my website at: https://vlorine.wixsite.com/vlorine
I also occasionally post images to my Instagram account (v.lorine.photography).
Besides the arts, I also enjoy traveling (far away from the SE Texas heat and humidity!), camping, hiking, and playing games with my family.
I believe in trying new things and experimenting with different ideas. I also believe that you should never compare yourself to anyone else. Be creative, be unique, be yourself, and HAVE FUN!
The only person you should try to be better than is who you were yesterday. – Unknown
