1-on-1 Reading Tutoring: Individualized Reading Instruction

In this 1-on-1 ongoing class, students receive individualized reading instruction from a licensed reading specialist.

During the first lesson, I will assess the reading level of the student. We will also discuss reading goals, student interests, learning goals, and what the leaner hopes to get out of each session. 

Each week we will meet for 55 minutes. During class, we will focus on the learning goals of the students. These could include the following: boosting reading confidence, improving phonics and fluency, boosting reading comprehension, vocabulary building, homework help for reading, etc. 


**Sample Class Agenda**

Greeting and Warm-Up (5 minutes) 

Pre-Teach Key Vocabulary Terms and Preview Text (10 minutes) 

Read and Discuss a Text (10 minutes) 

Answer Reading Comprehension Questions (15 minutes)
(focus on citing textual evidence, finding the main idea, identifying the theme)

Vocabulary Building (10 min)
(go over unfamiliar words and use context clues to help determine the meaning)

Assign Optional Homework and Closing (5 minutes)
