Middle school/ junior high is a tricky time. Whether your child is nervous about starting middle school or wants to have a better experience at middle school next year, this class is designed to help. In this 5-day class, students will learn about study skills, time management tips for balancing school, social skills, extracurricular activities, and spending time with friends and family. Week 1Lesson 1How to Ace Your ClassesThis lesson is about study tips and good habits that will help middle schoolers get good grades in their classes.Lesson 2Time Management, Goal Setting & Self-CareThis lesson is about how to manage your time without burning out. We will talking about the value of to-do lists, calendars, how to make a realistic schedule, setting goals, and the importance of practicing self-care.Lesson 3Social Skills & Navigating Peer PressureThis lesson is about how to make new friends and social skills. We will also discuss how to make independent decisions and avoid negative influences.Lesson 4School Clubs & ExtracurricularsThis lesson is about the value of getting involved in school clubs, extracurricular activities. We will also talk about how to prioritize commitments. Additionally, we will discuss how to balance clubs, extracurriculars, and other social activities with demands of school.Lesson 5Digital CitizenshipThis lesson is about how to be safe and responsible when using digital tools and social media. We will focus on internet safety and etiquette.
I'm a licensed K-12 teacher. I have over 4 years of experience teaching middle school/junior high. I regularly work with students to improve study habits, time management, social skills, and teach students how to stay safe online.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
