Do you want to learn more about Japanese culture? Are you interested in traveling to Japan? Take the time to learn more about the culture, traditions, and etiquette before you go. This ongoing club will be taught with Canva presentation slides, virtual tours, video clips, images, articles or short texts (1-2 pages) that we read aloud together, comprehension quizzes to check understanding, and discussions. Research for this course is based on my experiences living and working in Japan for two years. I also collaborate with friends of mine who are Japanese who still live in Japan when deciding on content to teach in this course. I think the best way to learn about different cultures is to communicate directly with people who are part of these cultures. All materials and information in this course comes from Japanese individuals and from people who have spent time properly researching Japanese culture, history, and traditions. While researching content for this class, I make an effort to collaborate with friends of mine who are Japanese. I look for sources that are written by people from Japan and/or who are well-qualified to speak about the topic. I lived and worked in Japan for two years. My intention is to share what I have learned about Japan with students in a way that is respectful of Japanese culture and traditions.
